Overview:
Although IP video technology promises numerous benefits to cable operators, the transition to all-IP delivery is fraught with many challenges. Fortunately, there is a way to start navigating that transition without switching out existing HFC networks and/or replacing legacy equipment in the home. The multi-screen video gateway offers a hybrid IP/QAM solution for starting the migration to IP video, piping OTT and other new video services to subscribers and reaching the rapidly growing array of new IP-enabled consumer electronics devices. It also provides a way to keep serving more traditional set-top boxes without overhauling the HFC architecture. In fact, companies such as Cisco view multi-screen gateways as a critical step toward their wider IP video vision, which Cisco terms Videoscape. In this webinar, Light Reading and Cisco will explore how multi-screen gateways could help service providers begin their evolution to IP Video.
