Overview: Light Reading would like to invite you to a special Webinar covering VDSL2, a technology that promises to have a significant impact on service provider plans to roll out IPTV services - VDSL2: Deployment & Migration Issues.
What makes this Webinar “special”?
The speaker lineup includes John MacDonald, representing the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the body that masterminded development of the VDSL2 standard. MacDonald also brings a service provider perspective to the Webinar because he’s in charge of DSL performance evaluation for BT, an incumbent carrier blazing a trail in broadband services.
VDSL2 promises to be a critical technology for service providers. It delivers a tenfold increase in bandwidth over traditional ADSL, thereby making it possible to offer such services as high-definition TV, video-on-demand, videoconferencing, high-speed Internet access, and advanced voice services over a standard copper telephone cable.
The Webinar will delve into practical issues of deploying VDSL2. This will include an in-depth look at how the standard is being implemented by leading vendors. It will also zoom in on the challenges of migrating existing customers and services onto it - challenges made easier by the fact that VDSL2 is interoperable with existng DSL equipment and legacy ATM infrastructure.
